Paradoxul epocii noastre / The Paradox of Our Age

"Avem case mai mari, dar familii mai mici;
Avem mai multe diplome, dar nu stim in ce directie mergem;
mai multe cunostinte, dar mai putina judecata;
Traim in vremea mancatului rapid (fast food) si a digestiei incete.
Om inalt, caracter scund;
profituri rapide, relatii superficiale.
Este vremea cand vitrinele sint pline,
dar nu avem nimic in magazine."

"We have bigger houses but smaller families;
more conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees, but less sense;
more knowledge, but less judgement;
more medicines but less healthiness
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but we have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbours.
We have built more computers to hold more information,
to produce more copies than ever,
but we have less communication.
We have become long on quantity,
but short on quality.
These are the times of fast foods but slow digestion.
Tall man but short character;
steep profits but shallow relationships.
It is a time when there is much in the window,
but nothing in the room."
